| The Lake Joy Community Club has reinstituted an active Neighborhood Watch Program. This program is for ALL residents, whether you belong to the Club or not. If you are interested in participating in this program as a Watch Captain, please contact Mike Swift, Block Watch Captain at 425/788-9579 or E-mail Mike at ljswifts@hotmail.com. Note: You DO NO need to be a member of the Lake Joy Community Club to participate in this program. The main purpose of this program is to work together to make our community safer and to prevent crime from occurring. In addition, residents and in particular, Section Captains, have these additional goals to work towards: 1. To be familiar with the residents of the comunity so that they are recognized as part of the neighborhood. 2. To identify individuals who may not belong in our neighborhood. 3. To execute the Lake Joy Emergency Response Plan in the event of an emergency. Please click on the links below for more information on the Lake Joy Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and for a listing of Neighborhood Watch Captains. | Lake Joy Community Club Safety Committee Update (6/05) So you say you've gotten a membership renewal and it asks if you want to contribute to the Emergency Response Plan? And you ask yourself just what are those funds being used for? Here's an update on just where your donations go: Initial Donations: Along with a grant from the Lake Joy Community Club, we had enough funds to purchase supplies for 12 Block Watch Captain's Back Packs. Those kits include a hard hat, goggles, gloves, FSR radio, extra batteries, clipboards and pens, dust mask and flashlight. These supplies are to be used in doing an analysis of their neighborhood in the event of a disaster. We also purchased supplies for our Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Kits for use at the Fire Station, which includes office supplies, first aid supplies, personal supplies and extra safety equipment. Continuing Donations: We recently purchased Safety Vests and Triage Belts (used in the neighborhood assessment to mark damage findings) to add to the Block Watch Captains Packs. Future Donations: Will allow us to purchase additional safety vests, hard hats and gloves for a "buddy" for each of our Block Watch Captains. It's very important to have backup help while you are doing an assessment, and we want those assistants to be equally protected. We are we up to these days with the Emergency Response Plan? We have a drill scheduled for June 12th to practice doing damage assessments in our neighborhoods. The Block Watch Captains, along with EOR Coordinators and workers practice using their FSR radios to communicate findings. How can you help? We need an additional Block Watch Captain on the east side of the lake - one section is currently without a captain. Contact Block Watch Coordinator, Mike Swift (788-9579) or Safety Committee Chairmen, Rowland and Kathy Brasch (788-8260) for more information. Thank you! Kathy Brasch |
